Trenbolone is a kind of anabolic steroid used by veterinary practitioners on animals to increase muscle mass and appetite. Once metabolized by the body, it increases the nitrogen uptake of the muscles thereby increasing protein synthesis. Trenbolone also stimulates appetite but reduces the amount of fat absorption due to the high level of androgen. These properties of Trenbolone hook bodybuilders and athletes since it could result to a tighter, bulkier, hard and more defined physique.  This anabolic steroid does not cause water retention because it is not metabolized by aromatase into estrogenic compounds such as estradiol, an estrogen. Most body builders claim that trenbolone decreases muscular breakdown and increases recovery rate after injury. The recovery of muscle tissues are due to the fact that this type of anabolic steroid promotes the production of red blood cells and increase glycogen replenishment.  Bodybuilders love the increased in strength they feel caused by androgenic effects of this substance.

Trenbolone may have good effects to some athletes and bodybuilders but its side effects must not be left out since it results to short-term effects including insomnia, high blood pressure, night sweats and increased or decreased libido. These effects reverse once the use of this substance is stopped. Women should not be given with trenbolone even in small amount because of their tendency to suffer virilization effects. Such effects may include deepening of the voice, body and facial hair growth, and clitoral enlargement. Kidney toxicity of this substance has not yet been proven but urban myths in bodybuilding claim that continuous intake of drugs over a long period of time may damage the kidney. This belief most probably originated from the rust colored metabolites of trenbolone excreted in the urine, and this is always mistaken for blood. Many have loved the effects of this drug but it should always be remembered that trenbolone has never been approved by the FDA to be used in human.
